Our Story
Mandy
Bringing everything together
Originally from India, I moved to New Zealand at 17 after completing a degree in Computer Science. While I initially planned on a career in software engineering, a personal experience completely changed my perspective. I watched a close friend struggle under the weight of running multiple businesses; he was overwhelmed, stressed, and stuck in a cycle of endless paperwork and unpaid bills.
Everything shifted when I sat in on a meeting between him and an exceptional bookkeeper. Seeing the clear, practical guidance they provided, and the way it transformed not just his business, but his ability to spend time with his family, made something crystal clear to me. I saw how powerful trustworthy support could be in changing someone’s life.
That moment led me to a new path. I earned my Diploma in Accounting and spent well over a decade gaining hands-on experience with Chartered Accountants and manufacturing firms. I also completed further accounting qualifications through CAANZ. In 2023, I took the leap and started Books and Admin, building it on the same philosophy: providing the kind of clear, reliable support that helps business owners get their numbers sorted and their time back.
I am a certified member of the Institute of Certified New Zealand Bookkeepers and the New Zealand Payroll Association, and I’m registered with CAANZ and the IRD, so you know your business is in safe hands.
I live in beautiful Nelson with my partner and our daughter. When I’m not at work, I love being outdoors, especially running with my dog (I still have those marathon dreams on my list!). I also value giving back to the community through volunteering and supporting local not-for-profits.
Much like the rest of the team, I’m a big believer in travel and exploring new places. And when there is time for a proper coffee and a good chat, that is always my favourite way to spend a moment.

Detail, done right
I’ve always been someone who finds a lot of satisfaction in things being done properly. After finishing my degree and working across different parts of finance and admin, I realised that bookkeeping is where I feel most at home. I genuinely enjoy the process of taking a mess of information and turning it into something organised and clear.
I’m naturally proactive. I’m not one for letting tasks pile up or leaving things for later. For me, it’s about the peace of mind that comes from knowing everything is accurate and up to date right now. When we work together, my goal is to take that weight off your shoulders. I’ll keep your records in order and ready whenever you need them, so you can trust your numbers without having to worry about what might have been missed.
I care a lot about the work I do, and I’m always looking to learn and get better at my craft every day.
Away from my desk, I’m a big fan of mystery, thriller, or rom-com movies. I also have a bit of an adventurous side. I love high places and activities like zip lining. Recently, I’ve started travelling more and going on hikes.
If I want to relax, I’m happiest by the ocean, enjoying something sweet (cakes are my weakness!), and of course coffee is definitely a must for me.

Experience behind the bigger decisions
I’m a specialist tax advisor with over 35 years of experience across a wide range of industries. My career has taken me from Inland Revenue to large international firms and local practices, including many years in partner roles. Over that time, I’ve worked closely with business owners to help them navigate complex situations and make confident decisions.
My experience goes beyond just the technical side of tax. I’ve spent years supporting clients with business structuring, asset protection, and succession planning. I’ve seen what works and what doesn’t, and I bring that practical perspective into every conversation.
Having built my own client base and held leadership roles, I understand what it actually takes to run and grow a business, not just advise on it.
While I don’t provide tax services through Books and Admin, I play a role behind the scenes. I support the team with strategic direction, growth decisions, and overall oversight. My role is to be a sounding board to help keep things clear, steady, and moving in the right direction.
Outside of work, I enjoy staying active through hockey and the gym. I also value spending time with family and making the most of that downtime. Like the rest of the team, I enjoy travelling and exploring new places. And a good day always starts with a great coffee.
