Xero Price Increase 2026: What Businesses Need to Know
Xero has announced a pricing update, with new prices taking effect from 1 October 2026.
If you use Xero for your business, here’s what is changing.

Prices are in NZD and exclude GST.
The new pricing will apply to both new and existing New Zealand Xero subscribers from 1 October 2026.
There are a couple of other changes to be aware of
If you are using the Ultimate plan with Xero Payroll for more than 10 employees, the additional employee charge will increase from $1 to $2 per employee per month.
Xero has also announced that its multi-organisation discount will begin to be phased out from 1 October 2026.
Existing promotional discounts and promo codes will continue to apply until they expire.
Is it worth checking your Xero plan?
Yes.
A price increase is a good opportunity to check whether you are actually using the features included in your current subscription.
Businesses change over time. You may have added payroll, changed the way you process bills, moved to another app, reduced staff numbers, or simply stayed on the same Xero plan for years without reviewing it.
Before changing plans, make sure you understand which features you currently use. Moving to a cheaper plan isn’t necessarily a saving if you lose something important to your bookkeeping or payroll process.
On the other hand, there is no point paying for features your business no longer needs.
What should you do?
You don’t need to do anything immediately. The new pricing doesn’t start until 1 October 2026.
But before then, take five minutes to check which Xero subscription your business is currently on and whether it still suits the way you operate.
